Beijing Temple of Heaven
The Temple of Heaven is located in southern Dongcheng District of Beijing, and it represents relationship between earth and heaven – the human world and God's world – which is located at the heart of Chinese cosmogony.
The Temple of Heaven was built in the Ming Dynasty by the emperor Zhu Di over 600 years ago. Once a year, at winter solstice, the emperors came here to worship God of Heaven and to solemnly pray for a good harvest, and he would also worship god of heaven and pray for good harvest on every first fifteenth day of first lunar month every year.
