Day 1 – Arrival Seoul
A professional driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you back to your hotel. In the afternoon, you are free to adjust to the jet lag or experience Korean culture and traditions on your own around the hotel.
Day 2 – Seoul Highlights
Start your exciting Seoul tour in the morning at Gyeongbokgung Palace to experience the rich history and traditional architectural features, followed by a visit to the Korean Folk Museum to learn about traditional Korean customs. Stroll through the beautiful streets of Bukchon Hanok Village and admire the very distinctive traditional Hanok houses.
Next, take a cable car or hike up Namsan Tower for a panoramic view of the entire city. Then, stroll through the bustling Gwangjang Market for delicious Korean snacks.
Day 3 – Experiencing Impressive Historic Sites In Gyeongju
Take a 3-hour train ride from Seoul to Gyeongju in the morning to reach Gyeongju, the capital of the once glorious Silla Kingdom. Gyeongju began as the capital of Silla in 58 BC and ended in 936. Originally a confederation of tribes in the southeastern part of the Korean Peninsula, Silla became a hereditary state of the Kim clan in the late 4th century and was officially named ‘Silla’ in 504 AD.
It is known as an amazing ‘museum without walls’ which shows the essence of ancient times.
Next, visit the Royal Tumuli Park and Cheonmachong Tomb, and experience Cheongseongdae Observatory, the most distinctive and ancient observatory in East Asia. Then, take a leisurely stroll through the Silla-era Donggung Palace and enjoy the beauty of the quiet evening.
Day 4 – Exploring Bulguksa Temple And Other Site
Today’s itinerary begins at Bulguksa Temple, which is famous for its distinctive architecture and peaceful environment. Continue to visit Seokguram Grotto, a historic Buddhist cave temple with exquisite stone carvings inside.
Next, head to the quiet and beautiful Gyeongju Folk Village. Experience the wonders of the beautiful alleys lined with Korean houses and thatched roofs. Then take the train back to Seoul in the afternoon.
Day 5 – Seoul
Starting in the morning, we will explore the demilitarized zone, the most militarised border in the world and a symbol of the division between North and South Korea. Stretching for 249 kilometres, the DMZ is a testament to the history and geopolitics of the Korean Peninsula.
Our DMZ tour takes you past important landmarks, each with its own story. At Dora Observatory, you can see North Korea from afar. You can feel tension and hope intertwined in this place of inter-Korean confrontation. If it closes, it will be replaced by something else.
Next, we’ll delve into the Third Tunnel, a secret passageway discovered in 1978. It can transport 32,000 soldiers per hour. Located just 53 kilometres from Seoul, the tunnel is a living testament to the region’s turbulent history. This tour is more than just sightseeing, it is a journey through history and a beacon of hope for a peaceful future.
