This section is located about 80 miles away from the Chinese capital, to the north-east. This part is old enough and dates back to the times of rule of the Ming emperors of China. The construction process was in full competence of their trusted general and one of the greatest and most respected state men of that epoch – Qi Jiguang. Despite its 2000-year-long history, the section managed to stay in a good condition.
The Simatai section is unique also because of another interesting fact. It meets the same-named water reservoir that divides the wall into two parts connected with a bridge. This part somehow resembles the creature that China is always associated with – a dragon. It’s more correct to say, two dragons. The surrounding area and landscape are breathtaking.
